Meet the Board

Our journey began with a simple belief – that a strong sports community can produce  responsible young leaders and industry captains of the future.  We provide funding for sport and leadership development programs to help nurture the lifelong skills for the future change makers in our community.

My 19-year career playing UK professional soccer was followed by achieving a Sports Business Degree and MBA in leadership.  This path has turned me into a serial entrepreneur with over 12 years’ experience as a CEO primarily in the sports, heath & fitness industry. I call myself a citizen of the world having worked in the UK, The Far East, Caribbean and the USA. Growing up in a small caring community, played a huge part in helping me achieve my dream of becoming a professional athlete and has fueled my desire to pay it forward. Therefore, my goal for the foundation is solely towards helping young people become good citizens and leaders and I believe that sport is a great vehicle to drive that vision.

Sports anecdote about yourself or family member: My grandfather born in Pittsburgh, was the quarterback during the 1920’s Depression Era, for a team known as the Pittsburgh Ironmen. My soon to born father, 3rd son of 7, was the reason my grandmother ‘highly suggested’ my Grandpap, quit playing in 1930, even though he was paid $200 per game; a fortune back then. Three years later, 1933, the team became the Steelers. I have the picture of my grandfather in the Ironmen team photo in the middle holding the ball, leather helmet & all.

Jim was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1988, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. After graduation, he obtained his CPA license in New York and worked for the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

He later attended Seton Hall University School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 2000 and received his JD. Jim has worked for a global publicly traded medical device manufacturer, Datascope, where he started their internal audit department, and served as in-house counsel, among other roles.

Jim’s past work experience also includes executive positions at the global investment firm, Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co., L.P. and DHL Supply Chain.

Favorite Sport:  Coming from a group of tennis enthusiasts, my parents moved to Naples over 30 years ago to play tennis in Paradise…they played at what is now the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy.

The courts are spectacular.  I am an avid tennis spectator.

Favorite Sports memory:  Trying to keep up with my mother on the tennis court when I was a teenager.  She was too good.

Sports anecdote about myself or family member:  My parents were naturally athletic and loved being outdoors and active…it has given me an appreciation for all sports and athletes
